“ The Challenge Mine ” “ Notice of location “ [not legible] the undersigned have this day located fifteen hundred feet on this Lead Ledge on Lodge of [not legible] hearing precious metals with all dips spurs and angles also three hundred feet on each side of the center of vein for surface purposes. Commencing at the monument upon which this notice is placed and running fourteen hundred (1,400) feet in an Easterly direction and one hundred (100) feet in a Westerly direction said mine is Situated near the [not legible] of trail leading down to Alum spring in front and East of the location monument of the El Capitan mine and about (400) ft Easterly from said location in El Dorado mining District Lincoln County State of Nevada and shall be known as the “ Challenge “ mining company Dated on the ground this 14th day of July A.D. 1880 J.W.
