The BRIDES, wrapped in the blankets in which they were captured, are around MILLY, weeping and wailing. MILLY is in her nightgown. GIRLS (ad-lib) Milly, help us! We've been kidnapped! Make them take us back! etc etc. etc. MILLY (Horrified) You take these poor girls back at once! At once, do you hear? We cain't. CALEB FRANK (proudly) There was an avalanche. (The GIRLS react tearfully) ADAM (cheerfully) I guess they'll just have to wait 'til the spring thaw.
