Description
Wahmonie, NV. Retort oven used for production of mercury. Typewritten on photo sleeve: "RETORT OVEN used for the production of Mercury at Wahmonie. There seems to be a bit of a mystery surrounding this structure. Well-built and rather an elaborate affair, there is no evidence now that it was used. Logs for fuel are in the foreground, but there's no burned wood or roasted ore." [Caption in N[evada] T[est] S[ite] News Bulletin August 21, 1981 p. 7]
