STATE OF NEVADA ) ( SS COUNTY OF CLARK ) Dick Lockrie being first duly sworn, deposes and says: That he is foreman of Las Vegas Evening Review Journal, a daily newspaper, of general circulation, printed and published at Las Vegas, in the Comity of Clark, State of Nevada, and that the attached was continu­ously published in said newspaper for a period of Two Weeks, from April 7, 1942 to April 14th, 1942 inclusive, being the issues of said News Paper for the following dates, to-wit, April 7th - 14th. EMERGENCY ORDINANCE ORDINANCE NO. 271 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 9 OF ORDINANCE NO. 165 OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE TO PROHIBIT GAMING AND OPERATION OF SLOT MACHINES IN THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, WITHOUT FIRST OBTAINING A LICENSE THEREFOR REGULATING THE SAMS, FIXING THE AMOUNT OF SUCH LICENSE, PROVIDING A PENALTY THEREFOR, REPEALING ORDINANCE NOS. 77, 82, 88, 103 and 115, AND ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH". The Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas, do ordain as follows: Section 1. Section 9 of Ordinance 165 of the City of Las Vegas is hereby amended to read as follows: Any licensee holding a valid existing license from the City of Las Vegas for a current quarter, may, during such current quarter, secure a license for additional slot machines, games or devices, as the case may be, ever and above the particular number of slot machines, games or devices for which he, they or it holds a license, for the remainder of the quarter by paying the city clerk the license fee above provided, for the additional particular slot machine, game or device, as the case may be, provided that such licensee first be required to make an application to the Board of City Commissioners of Las Vegas for such additional slot machine, game or device and receive the approval of the Board of City Commissioners at their regular meeting, after which the city clerk shall issue an additional license for the remainder of such quarter, and the additional license shall be upon the same terms and conditions as though issued under the provisions of section 8 of this ordinance, as amended by Ordinance No. 245. SECTION 2. This ordinance is declared to be and is hereby passed as an EMERGENCY ORDINANCE and it shall take effect immediately after its passage and publication. SECTION 3. The City Clerk is hereby authorized to have this Ordinance published in the Las Vegas Age, a weekly newspaper printed and published in the City of Las Vegas, County of Clark, State of Nevada, for a period of two weeks, that is to say once each week for a period of two weeks. The foregoing Ordinance was read aloud for the first time and voted upon at a regular meeting of the Board of City Commissioners on the 6th day of April, 1942. Vote for: Commissioners: Smith, Tinch, Clark, Rubidoux, and his Honor, the Mayor, Howell C. Garrison, and was read aloud for the second time and passed by the unanimous consent of the Board as an emergency Ordinance on the 6th day of April, 1942.
