SAN PEDRO, LOS ANGELES AND SALT LAKE RAILROAD COMPANY * ? OFFICE OF FIRST VICE-PRESIDENT IV. HJ, Broft, ) Vice-President Salt Lake City, June 6th, 1905. Mr. J. Rosa Clark, Second Vice-President. Los Angeles, California. Dear Sir:- I am in receipt of a letter from Mr.Whittemore, dated Las Vegas, June second, transmitting copy of letter from F.A.Waters, in which he states he has written you similar communication with reference to organizing an abstract company to issue certificates of title to Las Vegas lots. I assume that the deed to the Las Vegas Company has been, or will be duly recorded, and that an abstract of title being very brief, could be secured from the County Recorder, having same on file in the company's office, so that it could be exhibited to purchasers. To my mind, that would be the natural method of dealing with these titles, and it does not occur to me that there is any good reason for organizing a title or abstract company to stand between purchasers and the County Recorder's office. It seems to me this proposition is substantially a fifth wheel to a wagon. Yours
