City Board Denies Request194/ For VA Space in Park A request by the: total veterans administration for space in the city park on which to., locate a combined service center, has been refused by the Lboard Of city commissioners, who then offered to seek such space elsewhere from the Union Pacific railroad. The request was carried to the board by veterans administration officer; Bill Henderson, who told the commissioners of plans to re­model several army surplus, buildings for use by his agency and other veteran groups, in ad­dition to the state unemployment office. The latter agency has been ordered to vacate'present head­quarters at 115 South Fourth street, and has’ been unable to find another suitable location, the board was told. Henderson was informed by Mayor E. W. Cragin that allocaT tion of space in the city park is not possible, since plans for the long-range development. of re­creational facilities in the park have already'been approved and work begun. Under the plan submitted to the1 board, the buildings Would be transferred to the city, and the cost of remodeling would be off­set by rental from the veterans ! administration and the unem-; ployment office.
