Miller / Mr* A* M* Folger * Mr* D* F, Wengert) Referring to your letter of February 18th, file LA-20-6, to Mr. Wengert, concerning production and consumption of water at Lee Vegas during year 1949* I am advised by our Water Service Department that all water produced, with the exception of that used in making weir testa, Is measured by meters Installed in the transmis­sion lines from the producing field, in view of which it appears our records of consumption reflect the amount of water produced as accurately as could be ascertained by meters at the wells* Under the circumstances, it appears the ex­penditure of several thousand dollars for the additional meters is not warranted* Weiring of the wella and springs was not intended to give an accurate measurement of the water produced, but was for the purpose of obtaining general Information as to the performance of each producing unit* In order to eliminate waste, I see no objection to dispensing with the re ©alar semi­monthly weiring and particularly so during the peak consump­tion periods• As and when there is a substantial fluctuation in our production, such weir measurements as may fee necessary to determine the cause can be made* Wrn.
