P a fc e T w e l v e __________________ ~ i Would Prohibit ] Waste of Water j An emergency ordinance was pas- 1 sed by the City Commissioners at j their meeting Thursday evening to j prohibit the wastage of water. Sev- j eral citizens appeared in protest, j The principal feature of the ordi- J nance is the clause compelling the 1 reuse of water running from cooling j systems and this will require the in- 1 stallatlon of small pumps at least 1 in the case of the larger cooling sys- 1 terns in hotels and business houses. I A.'M. Folger, representative of the | Las Vegas Land and Water com - I pany, was present at the meeting to J explain the intentions of the com- | panyand stated that since the ordi- j nance was first published, water 1 users have voluntraily entered into I a campaign of economy in the use I of water with the result that the 1 reservoir water level has befen raised | approximately seven feet. He stated j that an estimated loss of 60,000 gal- j Ions per day was suffered because of | the wastage of water through the J many small residential cooling sys- j terns. He indicated that many prop- | erty owners allowed an excessive f amount of water to flow constantly through cooling systems. Polger also stated that a study is being made by the company to determine means of securing an additional water supply when necessary. The ordinance is practically identical with a former ordinance pro- | hibiting' the wastage of Water with ] the addition of the requirement for 1 reuse of water.
