Reinhardt: sc: W. H. Johnson, Las Vegas ? In connection with the above case I attended a hearing at Las Vegas yesterday. The protestant was represented by quite a group of attorneys, and their questioning related primarily not to the volume of the return, but to the bills submitted, the fact that we had not heretofore submitted bills, and the question as to whether the present tariff was applicable to the charges included in the bills. They also put on the stand two so-called wh0 testified In substance that thesa refrigeration plants only wasted around three gallons per minute. Neither of these so-called experts were very familiar with the matter, and apparently had secured their Infor- mation from salas publications of rafrigaration companies. Representatives of Sears-Roebuck, the El Cortez Hotel,the Apache Hotel, the El Portal Theatre, and numerous of the gambling houses testified primarily that these refrigeration plants were only.in operation for about five months of the year, and in connection with Sears-Roebuck particularly, that they were only operated to capacity two months of the year. ®n<* hearing, Commissioner Allen dictated an Order recommending suspension of our ?rfS?ntJrates" and Bering us to file new rates within thirty days, sending copies to all the protestants.
