W&;{ WATER RATES | las Ye gas 'x ?'Desert;,B'tirL 9-4-51 The Daily Desert Sun brought real news to the people of Las Vegas yesterday morning with the first and only complete release ; of the report and conclusions of the Nevada ; Public Service Commission on Las Vegas water rates. It is refreshing to read the complete tabulation, when done so with the j thought that it is truly a document based upon equity; fair and impartial to consumer and producer alike. Some apprehension Was manifest, when ’.! the Las Vegas Land and Water Company made its application for increased rates last j March. The Chamber of Commerce ad- I vanced to a position of aggression and then retreated; some public-spirited individuals 1 voiced their disapproval, ‘ while Mr. and Mrs. Average Citizen wondered. And now ! that the commission has made its decision ! the Las Vegas water question is again rele- j gated to the status of “finished business.” ( The Daily Desert Sun believes it voices 1 the expression of the entire community when it extends an appreciation to the four members of the Public Service Commission, J. F. Shaughnessy, George W. Malone, H. H. i Martin and Lee S. Scott. Suchi decisions as theirs tend to rehabilitate a confidence in public officials that has j been greatly stifled during the past few years* ? ? ; -
