Los Angeles - March 8, 1954 80-11 Mr. J. W. Padden: In connection with sale of bonds by the Las Vegas Valley Water District, a prospectus is being prepared for distribution to the bond houses and they want to emphasize the fact that the Las Vegas basin is an industrial district rather than a den of iniquity as most people believe. They would like us to furnish them the total number of carloads of freight forwarded and total number received from what we commonly designate as the Las Vegas District. They would like to have included therein the cities of Las Vegas, Arden, Sloan, Henderson, Boulder City, and any other shipping points in the general territory including the Moapa •branch. I do not know whether we consider the Moapa branch part of the Las Vegas District, but I think in my letter I could state that the following information covers carloads of freight forwarded and received from the cities of Las Vegas, Henderson, Boulder City, Arden, Sloan, Nellis Air Base - if that is a separate shipping point, and the Moapa branch. The list would Just Include the total number, broken down between forwarded and received, but not broken down with respect to stations. I see no legal objection to furnishing this information, and if it is readily available I would appreciate if you would have such a statement prepared and sent to me. E. E. Bennett EE5:ps
