Over the years It has proved to be on© of the most valuable civic organisations in the state and the people of Hstrato owe much to- the fine studies which it has carried on through the private contributions made to It® support by Its member®. First regarded as m organisation exposed largely of corporations and wealthy persons who’ planned to use it to avoid their Just ©hare of taxes it has proved to be far from anything of the hind. Instead It has devoted itself to ©artful studies of state receipts and expendltures, pointed out their trend®, projected the economic effect of new legislation upon the state1® people m & their homes and industries, analysed the operations of the various state departments, and accurately published these studies in its magazine, the Nevato Tax Review. Fro® time to time many of these studies have been published in condensed fora in this newspaper as a matter of public interest. The fact that the state, Itself, maintains no department that carries on and publishes such studies makes the Nevada Taxpayers Association of the very greatest value. Many times the financial officers of Nevada have been glad to avail themielves' of the information which It .has compiled. Much credit for the association1s success must be given to F. ff* Fletcher, for many years its director and previously secretary of the Hevsto state tax commission* A clear and logical writer he possesses the gift of making figures interesting. Very largely throu^i his efforts thousand® of Nevada people are kept familiar with the finan­cial operations of their state and local governments. (AN SDITOHIAL)
