    m Mr. Grant: #3 Jan. 1, 1944. the Government for construction of the lousing unite, and in red the remaining water lines of the Grandview Water Company. The portion of the water line referred to extends from the point marked “A” along the southerly edge of Blocks 4 and 9 to point *B», thenoe north on 13th Street to point RC* where a 8-Inch line (indicated in dotted green) extends northerly on the west aid of Fourteenth Street Addition Block 3 to serve the houses therein. As I recall it, this situation arose as follows: When the Government contractor was relocating th© pipe lines for the new Army Housing Project in 1943, he out the line on Twelfth Street between points "C» and "D*, that is, between Mesquite Avenue and Oak Street, nd the residents in Block 3 were thus deprived of a water supply. These people threatened to get out an injunction to prevent ©onstruction of the Project, and to avoid this a line was constructed from stub end of the line on Twelfth Street to provide them with water. 7 Will you kindly confer with Mr. Fitzgerald, Regional Counsel, at your first op ortunity, end see if the pipe line serving these people oannot be excepted from the improvements condemned* It will not be necessary to disturb the pip© line, but merely leave it in place in its present location. In the event the line oannot be excepted from the condemnation proceedings, can arrangements be made to grant us permission to serve water through this liner Thanking you for your consideration and assistsno# in arriving at a satisfactory solution of this matter, I am Yours very truly, AMF-f.
