M» Folger Special Representative Union Pacific Railroad Company *K)1 South Second Street Las Vegaa, Nevada Dear All Undoubtedly you have read within the last few days, news reports indicating that both Houses of Congress have overridden President Truman*s veto of S-110, the Reed-Bulwlnkle Bill by votes of 6>25 in the Senate and 297-102 in the House* When the House voted at lit©3 A.M* Thursday June l?th, the law became effective at that moment; that being the last parlia-mentary motion that concluded enactment of the bill not withstand** ing the Presidents veto* In its final form the Bill applies only to rates, fares, divisions, and rate bureaus and matters relating thereto, the Bill having been amended to exclude services, schedules, and other subjects included in the original Bulwinkle Bill, The final enactment of the Reed-Bulwinkle Bill culminates some four years of work of thousands of people all over the country, and probably the support for it can best be summed up in Senator Reed‘s own words on the floor of the Senate Wednes­day afternoon which were to the effect that in all his years in the United States Senate he never had seen such universal support for a. bill as that advocating passage of this measure* As Chairman of the Legislative Committee of the State of Nevada I wish to express my appreciation for all the fine work that was done in our state which gave support to our congressional delegates to the extent that each of them voted to support the Bill in each House and further voted to override the President*s veto when the issue was brought before each House* Kind personal regards.
