Mr. D. F. Wengert! Las Vegas - May 19, I9k8 R k$ ( 00 - Mr. Charles Ada®a) Referring to jour letter to Mr. Adams May 13, file 9215, regarding the agreement which expires August 28, 1952, under which the Railroad Company furnishes electricity for Fire and Police Departments at Las Vegas in case of outage In Southern Nevada Power Company lines* I discussed this thoroughly with City Manager Murphy and explained to him that, in view of the short periods of interruption in service by local Power Company, it would take us much longer to fire up the emergency steam generator in Railroad yard than it would take the Power Company to resume service. He agreed, hut anticipated that an occasion might arise in the future where the lights would be off 4 or 5 hours| and in view of the fact that we would probably put the emergency generator in service for our own needs at that time, we could probably also furnish emergency power to the City, Bis letter May 1? is hereto attached and will you kindly prepare amendment to the agreement, relieving us from liability during period it takes to place the emergency generator in service. At the expiration of the present agreement, I suggest we allow it to automatically terminate. A. M. Folger
