U s Vegas * Hay 13, 194® V 2 > 1 A few days ago members of the School Board, accompanied by their Architect, called on me with a request that we remove our water mains from the alleys In Hooks 14 and 17, between 8th and 10th Streets from Lewis to Olark, because they wanted to relocate their athletic field to cover these two blocks. The football field Is now located south of the High School between 7th and 8th Streets, but because of the need for additional class rooms this field will have to be moved to some other location* They have graded off Hooks 14 and 17 and propose to install a track and football field in Block 17# with bleachers along 8th Street; Block 14 will be used as a general recreation field. X do not see any sense in going to the expense of excavating about 1900 feet of ditch to relocate theee pipe line* when they are doing no harm in their preeent location. A simpler solution would be to merely lower the southerly 150 feet of pipe line in Block 14 and leave the rest in place. Examination indicates tht pips is in good condition nnd will serve for another 3© years. Xt is extremely unlikly that the pipe line would go out in that time, but if it does, we oould then abandon it In place and find another route through which to serve consumers, and I have so advised them to that effect.
