( 2 ) Additional over Ifll anticipated fro® Instal-lation of pumps in Welle 5 and 6 - - - - - - 1 000 000 ®PB few wells 7 and S recently authorized - - - - - 1 110 000 * Total - -------* * - * - < --------- -- - - - * $ 200 000 OP© HOTS: We have 300,000 not included the OFB previously estimated to he secured from Middle Spring hy pumping and chlorinating, as present indications are that the pumping of Well Bo. 5 will dry up that spring. This would mean that if we are called upon to meet a possible maximum demand of 9,600,000 GPD we would he somewhat short in production, and I think it wise to protect against any possibility of a fall-down hy adding another 500,000 OPS of pro* duction capacity hy installing a deep well pump on Well Bo. 4. This well, when last measured (September 25# 19*HL), was producing at the rate of kk"f,12.Q OH). This being a deep well, the low production can probably be accounted for by lack of porosity in the water bearing horizon. This would give ue an estimated production capacity of 9 ,700.000 GPP, or 1,100,000 OPB in excess of our anticipated maxiWHif demand'..' .. ™ To handle in the neighborhood of 9,000,000 <J?B through our present system it will be necessary to install an additional booster pump at the reservoir, and owing to the increased amount of water we will run through the settling basin it will be necessary to raise the walls of that basin 2 feet. In addition to the above, I am recommending the drilling at this time of another deep well and another shallow well. We have had signal success in drilling our wells with the i. B. Hall & Co. rotary rig. This rig will not only drill the wells in a few days as compared with months required by a cable string, but drills holes uniformly vertical and permits of cementing, gravel packing, etc., which cannot be properly done with a cable string. There are two reasons why I recommend the drilling of two additional wells this year: First; The probabilities at Las Vegas are such that it seems almost certain that either a reduction in head upon our underground sources and the consequent falling off in production, or further housing expansion, or both, will make neoessary drilling two additional wells In 19*13. By performing the work at this time we would save the approximately l3,Odo cost of moving the rotary drilling rig in and out - If such a rig is avail* able next year.
