I Mr. P.H. Knickerbocker-— - - - - # 2 ?believe, ie the case on account of the fact that each year since this w ell has been brought in we have had annually a deluge of sand, which this year did not occur* The examination and blowing of this w ell could be done with approximately a very small cost, which 1 would recommend. It is thoroughly demonstrated here in our artesian belt that the blowing of sand from d rille d wells has m aterially increased the water flow. I would p articu larly ca ll your attention to the w ell on the old Kyle ranch, which we formerly owned but disposed of. At the time it was sold the w ell was flowing 48 miner's inches and almost two years ago Mr.Park, the purchaser, had the w ell blown fo r sand, increasing the flow from 48 to 72 miner's inches and the w ell at the present time is flowing 68N. This is only one of a number of sim ilar cases and i f we can by blowing our large artesian w ell bring the flow back to approximately what it was it w ill save us the trouble at this time, or next year, of d r illin g another w ell. During Dr.Boyle's v is it here he located two differen t spots fo r the d r illin g of two wells when necessary. In this connection I herewith attach a statement of our water system fo r 11 months of the year 1926 and January 1927, showing returns on the investment amounting to about 21$ net. However, i f the contemplated plan is carried out fo r an increase in rental to be charged by the Railroad against the Las Vegas Land & Water Company, it w ill almost wipe out our net revenue. The proposed increase o f $3600*00 per year in the charge for water mentioned in your le tte r of June 23rd, f i l e 085-355, in my opinion, is entirely too much of a horizontal raise and I kindly ask that very careful consideration be given before we are required to meet that amount o f annual rental. As requested in your letter, I herewith return Mr. Adamson's le tte r. Yours very truly, WALTER R. BRACKEN Vice President and Agent W&S/mcp CC: Mr. E.E. Calvin, Mr. R.L. Adamson a R. ix StP 13 1927
