The Las Vegas Evening Review-Journal, June 5, 1942, states that the number of sugar rationing cards Issued In Las Vsgas amounted to 13,203, and the number of persons residing In hotels and auto courts who sat their meals in restaurants are variously estimated from 2,500 to 5,000. A conservative view appears to be that the population has a little better than doubled. Revenues from water sales In 1942 compared with 1940 show Inoreases for each of the months January, February, March, April and May of 21.53$, 22.90#, 23.43#, 26.91# and 53,85# respectively, while the number of service connections for the same months increased 12.34#, 14.07#, 14.12#, 17.56# and 13.43# respectively. Memorandum showing In details these comparisons, also similar data year 1941 compared with 1940 and year 1942, is attached. The Increase in revenues for May, 1942, of 53.35# includes an amount of $636.65, divided $272.73 for April, 1942, and $363.92 for May, 1942, representing water sold Lembke Construction Company engaged in constructing Federal Housing Project at Las Vegas, without which the percentage would be 41.10#.
