Las Vegas - October 14, 19^8 W 23-1-C Mr, ¥m, Reinhardt: Your letter October 12th, regarding water with-drawals from the underground channel: I had reference to the total withdrawals and not merely the amount used by the Water Company, k tm tached is copy of withdrawals by years, compiled by the State Engineer’s office. He estimates the total recharge to the southern part of Las Vegas Valley to be 30,000 acre-feet annually, and when it was found that the with* drawals exceeded this figure in 1 9 k 6 , it was thought that there was cause for alarm, especially if the with* drawals continued to increase in proportion* However, the 19^7 figures indicate a slight decrease, although still in excess of the estimated recharge rate.
