We operate a public utility serving water to the- City of Las Vegas, tfevada* Paring the summer months and particularly during periods of extreme hot weather when tli© temperature ranges upward to 110 and over with very low humidity, the practice among a large number of the population i® to sprinkle ^lawns, shrubbery and other vegetation continuously throughout the day* This practice is rapidly depleting th© underground reservoir, and unless th© citizens can be induced to conserve water, will necessitate th© construction of necessary facilities at considerable eaepense to bring water into the Valley from Lake Head* At the present 'fcime, the per capita us© during th© period of high temperatures approximates 700 gallons per W© believe a more judicious use of vjater will reduce this consumption without detriment to vegetation.
