Pear Sirt- Referring to your letter of June 10th, 1907, upon the subject of Investigating the condition of the pipe line from the spring to the station grounds at Las togas, with which letter you attached Mr. Bancroft’ s lettsr to you of June Mth, 1907, and Mr. Bettis* lettsr dated June Sth, 190t, to the Special Committee, both letters being upon the same subject. I have had the condition of the pipe line investigated by Mr. Jessup personally. Between the service tank at the Roundhouse and the spring he found four rust holes in the pipe, being respectively 3/4. X/£, 1/4 and l/S inches in diameter. These holes have been repaired and the leakage stepped. That portion of the pipe is s till servieable and will probably last at least two years longer. The portion of the pipe crossing the station grounds between the tank and Main Street, where the City main joins it is in bad condition and has caused considerable trouble from leaky joints ever since it was laid, which leaks it is thought were occasioned by the jars produced by locomotives and trains passing over the tracks above - 1 -
