For wrapping the above pipe with Mica Coated Pipe Cov­ering, add to the above price V 36^ per ft , The above pipe is made from blue an-nealed steel joints 48" wide, riveted together into sections 19I3” laying length. The longitudinal seams are double riveted and the roundabout seams are single riveted. The pipe, after being made into sections, is double dipped inside and out with C alifornia As-phaltum. The two ends are slig h tly tapered so as to make a tight driven joint when put together in the fie ld . The allowance made for drive is 3” ; in other words, the pipe actually measures 19*6” tip to tip and s e lls for 19’3" per section, Very frequently the pipe is given an ad­ditional protection against s o il corrosion by wrapp­ing it with a specially prepared fe lt asphaltum-saturated material similar to roofing paper but of a higher grade. This material is thoroughly re s is ­tant to the action of a lk a li salts in the ground and adds very greatly to the l i f e of the pipe. 3
