COUNTY AGENT PROJECT PROGRESS REPORT DATE: November 1, 1930 NAME OF PROJECT: IX-Irrigation District - Formation Of. A series of farm visits, Muddy Valley Irrigation Company meetings, and conferences with this company and representatives of the State Engineer's office, resolved the propositions of this project into one of (largely) "Watchful waiting" owing to complications arising out of the proposed Boulder (Hoover) Dam project. The most recent and the only tangible factor of importance with which this project will be concerned for the immediate future - (and until this phase of development has been fully settled, no further progress can be expected) will be that of settlement of condemnation proceedings of land areas that will be subject to submergence in the lower Moapa Valley. This leaves the Project Status Quo. Flood Control for Virgin Valley - A preliminary survey was made with the assistance of Engineer Thos R. King as specialist to determine nature and costs of Flood Control for Mesquite and Bunkerville on the Rio-Virgin River. CONCLUSIONS The outcome of condemnation proceedings may determine to some extent water storage for the remaining acreage concerned in Moapa Valley. Flood control for each Moapa and Virgin Valleys will be a problem that should be followed up to make for the safety of the very existence and maintenance of permanent agriculture in these valleys.
