Wilner, Martin S.

Martin Wilner was born March 14, 1946 in Los Angeles, California to Leo Wilner, an Executive Director at Temple Beth Sholom. He was raised in California, but earned his doctorate in psychology at the University of Houston, Texas. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1963 and became a counselor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Soon after moving to Las Vegas, Wilner met Linda at a Jewish Singles event. They were married on December 22, 1974 and they adopted a son, Robert, to raise with Linda’s two other kids from a previous marriage.

Eisenberg, Bernice

Bernice Eisenberg has been a Las Vegas resident since 1955 and was a part of the formation of Midbar Kodesh Temple. Eisenberg was a teacher and has taught at many Las Vegas schools. She met her husband, Ivan, at the Jewish Community Centers’ social club for young adults and married him in 1956. During the mid 1990s Las Vegas was a growing and Temple Beth Sholom was the only synagogue and Eisenberg worked to help form Midbar Kodesh Temple to serve the growing Henderson community. Bernice has two children.

Kaufman, Herb, 1930-2010

Herb Kaufman (February 18, 1930 – April 6, 2010) was a Las Vegas, Nevada businessman and president of Temple Beth Sholom from 1979 to 1983. He was born in St. Louis and moved to Las Vegas in 1965, where his career included operating Wonderworld Stores, partnering with Johnny Carson to purchase KVVU TV-5, and pursuing several independent business ventures. Kaufman served on many philanthropic boards, including: the American Cancer Society, Sunrise Hospital, Easter Seals, and the Clark County Housing Authority.

Steinberg, Leon, Dr.

Dr. Leon Steinberg is the founder of Steinberg Diagnostic Centers in Las Vegas, Nevada. He moved to Las Vegas in 1958 to help build the first radiology center in Southern Nevada at Sunrise Hospital. In 1988 he founded Steinberg Diagnostic Medical Imaging (SDMI) with his son Dr. David Steinberg.
