Roger Petterson graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1996 with a degree in hotel administration and thereafter started in the gaming industry as a pit clerk at The Mirage. He went through the slot Management Associate Program which led him to becoming a supervisor at that property and later an assistant shift manager at Bellagio. After becoming a shift manager at that property, Petterson went to Boulder Station in 2000 to become a slot operations manager and eventually director of slot operations in 2004.

Sarann Preddy was born July 27, 1920 in Eufaula, Oklahoma. Sarann Knight Preddy moved to Hawthorne, Nevada, in the 1940s, becoming a business owner and president of the NAACP. Later she moved to Las Vegas, where she served as a community activist and worked as one of the first black 21-dealers. Preddy bought the Moulin Rouge Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada and worked to preserve the building and its history. She passed away on December 22, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Spirit Lake Tribe is a Native American nation with a reservation located in North Dakota. The Spirit Lake Tribe includes the Sisseton, Wahpeton, and Cut-Head bands of Yanktonai who were placed on the Devil’s Lake Reservation in 1867. As of 2014 the nation has over 7,200 enrolled members. The Spirit Lake Tribe own the Sioux Manufacturing Company, the Spirit Lake Casino and Resort, and a number of other economic enterprises.

Oscar Wellington Stocker was born on April 1, 1872 in Easton, Pennsylvannia. Oscar married Mayme Virgina Clifton on December 26, 1891 in Reading, Pennsylvania, who would later become the first person to hold a legal casino license. He and his wife had three sons, Clarence, Harold, and Lester. The family left Pennsylvania in 1904, eventually settling in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1911. Oscar worked as an engine foreman for the railroad yards in Las Vegas and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainsmen. He passed away on September 10, 1941.

Ellen Burke Rawls is an entertainment columnist and publicist in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and her entertainment columns detail the line-up of coming events and stars at Atlantic City hotels and casinos. Her "Atlantic City" byline column appeared weekly in the Staten Island Sunday Advance from 1990 to 1995. Her Star-Ledger columns were carried in the Special Section under "Gracious Living" from 1990 to 1993 and "Summertime" from 1993 to 1994.
