Taken from her obituary on Las Vegas Review Journals' site: "NAOMI CHERRY Naomi Cherry, of Las Vegas, passed away Feb. 21, 2014, after a long and joyful life. She was 89 years of age and a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She leaves behind a devoted family and wonderful friends gathered over a lifetime. Born Dec. 1, 1924, in St. Louis, to parents, Abe and Jenny (nee Pollock) Barg, she was the eldest of five siblings, loved to dance and graduated from Soldan High School.

Freeman, Al, 1924-1972

Al Freeman was instrumental in building the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada into one of the most renowned resort hotels of the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. He served as the the promotion director for the Sands Hotel from the time it opened in 1957 until his death in 1972.

Weinberger, William S., 1913-1996

William S. "Billy" Weinberger (1913-1996) was president of Caesars Palace in the 1960s and 1970s. He was also president of Bally's Park Place casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey in the 1970s and 1980s and ambassador emeritus for the Golden Nugget and the Mirage in Las Vegas in the 1980s and 1990s.

Roen, Allard, 1921-2008

Allard Frank Roen, age 87, of La Costa in Carlsbad, CA passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2008, succumbing to complications of heart disease. He was born May 8, 1921, in Cleveland, Ohio, and was a resident of La Costa for 41 years. Allard graduated Duke University in 1943 with a degree in business. He served as a lieutenant in the United States Navy from 1943 thru 1946; participating in the Gilbert Islands and Okinawa campaigns. Following his discharge in 1946, Allard worked in Palm Beach, Florida, as a hotel contractor and builder.

Austin, Nancy

Las Vegas, Nevada comedic entertainer Nancy Byrne Austin was born in Silver Springs, Maryland in 1934. She received her education at the University of Maryland, earning a degree in Education. She taught elementary school for a short time before committing full time to show business. She began performing comedy in New York City in the 1950s and moved to Las Vegas in the early 1960s. Austin made an initial impression as one of the original cast members of the popular Las Vegas daytime review Bottoms Up.

Ayers, Kari K.

Kari K. Ayers is an insurance industry professional, and a longtime resident of Las Vegas, Nevada. She is past-president of the Southern Nevada Variety Club Tent 39, where she has engaged in several charitable endeavors. During her tenure as president of this organization, she donated a legacy archive of the former Las Vegas Variety Club to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Special Collections and Archives.
