Daryl Alterwitz was born June 17, 1959 in Gary, Indiana to Oscar and Deanne Alterwitz. When he was thirteen years old, his family moved from Gary, Indiana to Las Vegas, Nevada and purchased Walker Furniture. Alterwitz graduated from Valley High School and attended the University of California Santa Cruz. He earned his law degree from Santa Clara University and a degree in taxation from New York University School of Law.

Rabbi Goodman was previously assistant Rabbi at Mexico City's Comunidad Bet-El de Mexico, one of the largest conservative synagogues in Latin America. Harry Mack (1902-1985) was a Southern Nevada businessman and a founder of the Jewish community in Las Vegas, Nevada. He came to Las Vegas in 1937 with his brothers Louis and Nathan "Nate" Mack. He invested in land and commercial properties and owned Main Auto Parts and a builders supply store. Mack and his brothers were founders of the Las Vegas Jewish Community Center, built in 1946, and board members of B'nai B'rith in Las Vegas.

Nathan Adelson Hospice, founded in 1978 in Las Vegas, Nevada, provides hospice and palliative care to over 350 patients per day. It is named after Nathan Adelson, administrator of Sunrise Hospital, who died from stomach cancer in 1978. Adelson’s son Merv built Sunrise Hospital along with business partner Irwin Molasky; after Nathan’s death, the developers recognized the need for pain management healthcare and responded with Southern Nevada’s first home hospice.
