George, Willard Hampton, 1889-1956

Willard H. George (1889-1956) was a Los Angeles, California based furrier who designed, created, and supplied furs to movie studios during the Golden Age of Hollywood (1920s-1960s). George was the son of Sadie Kiel George, and great-grandson of early Las Vegas, Nevada settler Conrad Kiel, owner of the Kiel Ranch in North Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ellsworth, Elmo Hughes, 1911-1971

Hotel sales promotion manager Elmo Hughes Ellsworth was born in Safford, Arizona in 1911. He attended George Washington University Law School for a year until his job required him to move to San Francisco, California where he worked in sales promotion, publicity and theaters. He married Charlotte Rowberry in 1936 and a few years later they moved to the Las Vegas, Nevada. There he began working in the Security and Public Relations Department of the Basic Magnesium Company.

Nevada. Governor’s Advisory Council on Education Relating to the Holocaust

The Governor’s Advisory Council on Education Relating to the Holocaust was established by the Nevada Legislature in 1989 under Nevada Revised Statute 233G. The duties of the Council are to develop educational programs for children and adults on issues related to the Holocaust, to create reports, and to advise public and private bodies throughout Nevada on Holocaust education. It is also responsible for its own fundraising, although some money is allocated by the legislature. The Council consists of eleven members appointed by the governor.

Irsfeld, John H.

Novelist and former English professor John H. Irsfeld was born on December 2, 1937 and grew up in Mineral Wells, Texas. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts in 1959 from the University of Texas at Austin, he taught high school Spanish and English in Calallen, Texas. From 1961 to 1964, Irsfeld served in the United States Army. After his military service, Irsfeld returned to UT-Austin, where he completed his Master of Arts in 1966 and Ph.D in 1969, studying English and American literature.
