Chabad of Southern Nevada

Chabad of Southern Nevada was established in 1990 by Rabbi Shea Harlig and his wife Dina Harlig. It is an outpost of the worldwide Chabad-Lubavitch organization that provides social services and educational programs for members of the Jewish community. Chabad of Southern Nevada is headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada and has six affiliated centers: Chabad of Summerlin, Chabad of Green Valley, Chabad of East-Or Bamidbar, Chabad of Southwest, Chabad Hebrew Center, and Chabad Student Services at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Hunsberger, Charles W., 1929-

Charles Hunsberger was born in 1929 in Elkhart County, Indiana. Hunsberger was the director of the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District from 1972 to 1994. He is credited with expanding library facilities and services across Las Vegas, NV and Southern Nevada during the late 1980s and early 1990s. He was responsible for building more than twenty libraries in Southern Nevada; including securing a $22.2 million library bond in 1985 which resulted in the Green Valley, Las Vegas, Spring Valley, Sunrise, and West Las Vegas libraries.

Nancy Craft (née Pracejus) was born on August 30, 1937 in North Weymouth, Massachusetts. Her mother, Grace Franklin (née Farquhar) was a nursery school specialist and her father, Herbert Pracejus, was an engineer. She lived in Massachusetts for the first eight years of her life until her father’s health caused them to move to Las Vegas, Nevada on July 26, 1946. She attended John S. Park Elementary School and Las Vegas High School. In 1953, Craft successfully auditioned for the Rhytmettes and performed with the dance troupe until she graduated in 1955. After high school, she married her first husband and worked in a number of different offices. She married Norman Craft, a coach and athletic director for the Clark County School District, on May 31, 1964. Craft worked for Green Valley High School for a number of years before taking some time to raise her children. She chose to return to work in 1990 as a library aide. She retired in 2001.
