William H. Hernstadt served as a Nevada state senator from 1977 to 1984 and was owner and general manager of the Las Vegas television station KVVU TV 5 during the early 1970s. He also served as president of the Jewish Federation of Las Vegas from 1981 to 1982. Hernstadt graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York with a degree in physics in 1957.

He received a bachelor's degree in political science from Stonybrook University and a master's degree from the Benjamin S. Hornstein Program in Jewish Communal Service at Brandeis University. Karp was Director of Financial Resource Development for over 15 years at the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati, Ohio and Director of Leadership and Human Resource Development for six years at the Jewish Federation of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Daryl Alterwitz was born June 17, 1959 in Gary, Indiana to Oscar and Deanne Alterwitz. When he was thirteen years old, his family moved from Gary, Indiana to Las Vegas, Nevada and purchased Walker Furniture. Alterwitz graduated from Valley High School and attended the University of California Santa Cruz. He earned his law degree from Santa Clara University and a degree in taxation from New York University School of Law.

The Jewish Family Service Agency (JFSA), founded in 1977, provides professional social services to clients in need, including counseling, senior services, adoption, a food pantry, and emergency financial aid. Its focus is on the Jewish community, but the JFSA serves families and individuals regardless of their religion, race, age, disability, sexual orientation, or national origin. Services are provided in a confidential setting, and many are offered free of charge or on a sliding scale.
