Broadbent, Robert Nevin, 1926-

Robert N. Broadbent was born in 1925 in Ely, Nevada. He was a pharmacist and eventually became a politican. Broadbent was married in 1953 in Boulder City, Nevada. He rose to in the Republican party, starting as a city council member in Boulder City and eventually becoming a mayor and county commissioner. Broadbent passed away on August 09, 2003.

Description
Montezuma was the site of extensive mining activity from the 1860s-1880s but was dormant in the early 1900s when the Goldfield strike was made. According to the information painted on the front of the "Road House" of the "Montezuma Trading Company", the traveler or prospector could purchase "Wines & Liquors, Tobacco, Miners Supplies, Hay & Grain, and Groceries" at the store. Montezuma was located in the Montezuma Mountains seven miles west of Goldfield and was experiencing a resurgence precipitated by the discoveries at Goldfield.

Stevens, Muriel

Muriel Stevens (1925-2016) is a former newspaper columnist, author, chef, and radio and television host. Born December 22, 1925 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1954. Stevens is known for her radio and television shows, which focused on food, nutrition, and consumer issues. She hosted a one hour daily radio talk show for eight years before moving to television, where celebrity guests joined her on The Muriel Stevens Show to cook their favorite meals.

Abstract

Oral history interview with Philip St. Marie conducted by H. Keith Beall on July 28, 1975 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. In this interview, St. Marie discusses moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1952 and his career as a real estate agent. St. Marie describes how Las Vegas has changed and how the local real estate market has evolved. He also talks about President John F. Kennedy visiting Las Vegas, nuclear weapons testing, natural disasters, and segregation in the city.

From the Nye County, Nevada Photograph Collection (PH-00221) -- Series VII. Other areas in Nye County -- Subseries VII.F. Lowe Family. Bob Lee, the shorter man in the white shirt, is pictured with his brother Dick Lee. Resting Spring is located about five miles east of Tecopa, California, on the Old Mormon Trail. Colonel John C. Fremont camped at Resting Spring in 1844 on his return trip from California to the east.
