Southern Nevada Women's Political Caucus Records

Abstract

The Southern Nevada Women's Political Caucus Records (1981-1992) document a chapter of the National Women's Political Caucus. It was active in child care issues and in aiding women who aspired to be elected to public office. Included are chapter bylaws, minutes, newsletters, and information on local child care and the Act for Better Child Care Services of 1987. Also included are records of forums, conferences, dinners, newspaper advertisements, financial records, and membership information. There is national information, including a bumper sticker, and a poster.

Description
The dormant Fontainebleau Las Vegas as seen from the Fremont Street Experience parking garage in Las Vegas. The Fontainebleau was announced as the Las Vegas version of a classic Miami Beach hotel. Construction started in 2007, and stopped in 2009. In November of that year, financier Carl Ichan purchased the unfinished Fontainebleau out of bankruptcy. The following year, he sold off the fittings and furnishings purchased for the hotel. In late 2015, the Fontainebleau was listed as being for sale.

Nevada Historical Society Photograph Collection

Abstract

The Nevada Historical Society Photograph Collection contains photographs of Nevada from 1873 to 1951. The photographs primarily depict the towns of Pioche, Candelaria, and Tonopah in the early-twentieth century. The photographs also depict Nevada Governor Emmett D. Boyle and U.S. Senators William M. Stewart and Key Pittman. The collection contains two images related to the Women's Suffrage movement, including Governor Boyle signing a resolution in favor of the Nineteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and Anne Martin's campaign for the U.S. Senate in 1918. Lastly, the photographs also depict mining operations in Bullionville and Candelaria.
