Description printed photograph's accompanying sheet of paper: "They also flew! New York City--- Heroes yesterday, spectators today. Standing obscurely on the sidelines while New York acclaimed Howard Hughes and his four companions with a typical ticker-tape parade up Broadway, were two men respective aeronautical feats also set the world agog. Second from left is Capt. J. Erroll Boyd, who flew from Toronto, Can, to London in 1930. On that flight he had as his companion and navigator Harry P. M. Connor, who served in the same capacity on the Hughes flight. Beside Boyd, (smoking cigarette) is Roger Q. Williams, who, in 1929, flew from Old Orchard Beach, ME, to Rome. Although they didn't encounter a single snowflake on their roaring dash across Siberia, Howard Hughes and his four-man crew met a regular blizzard (of Broadway ticker tape) today as New York paid them homage as only New York know how. This is a view of the scene as the triumphal procession proceeded from the Battery to City Call. Howard Hughes on a motion picture set supervising the 'dressing' of a set for use in his production of "The Outlaw." Transcribed from attached press release: "From Russell Birdwell and Associates After an absence of ten years from motion picture production, Howard Hughes resumes film making with the producing and directing of "The Outlaw," the story of Billy the Kid, for Twentieth Century-Fox release. In 1931 he produced and directed "Hell's Angels," from which emerged a glorious new star, Jean Harlow, and in the same year he brought to stardom Paul Muni in "Scarface." And now Hughes, who in 1931 promised two new stars in Harlow and Muni, makes the same promise again with 19-+year old Jane Russell and 21-year old Jack Buetel, playing the top leads in "The Outlaw," the cast of which also includes Thomas Mitchell and Walter Huston. In this picture Hughes is discussing a story point with Jules Furthman, author of the story and screen play on "The Outlaw."

Hughes interrupted his convalescence to fly here from Culver City, Calif., with a stop-over in Kansas City. In New York, Hughes planned to cover with his attorneys regarding steps to protect his property rights in connection with the motion picture, "The Outlaw", which recently had its seal of approval revoked by the Motion Picture Association."

Description given with photo: "Hughes Pilots Radar-Equipped Plane Culver City, Calif. -- First passenger plane equipped with radar is flown in demonstration May 1st by Howard Hughes (left) and co-pilot R.C. Loomis over Culver City. Pilots using this equipment will be warned of approaching obstacles by lights flashing on radar panel. Two lights (lefts) with 2,000-foot range, are used to guarantee clearance over mountains; two lights (right) with 500-foot range, are a safety device for approaches and landings. Either set of lights warns against approaching aircraft. Trans-World Airline plans to install radar on its passenger planes. Credit (ACME) 5-3-47."

Description given with photo: "Hughes Arrives in Washington, Washington: Howard Hughes (right) plane manufacturer, chats briefly with reporters at Washington National Airport today (Aug. 6) shortly after his flight from the west coast to Washington to appear before the Senate War Investigating Committee. In good humor, and wearing the battered "good luck" felt hat that he wore when he survived a crash of his controversial plane, Hughes told reporters that the third XF-11 photo-reconnaissance plane, the ship which Elliot Roosevelt recommended, is now flying. Hughes added that it is "a very fine ship". Credit (ACME) 8/7/47."
