Description
Tonopah and Goldfield Railroad depot fire, August 13, 1980. There is an inscription on the back of the image: "The depot was built in 1904 as the Tonopah terminal of the Tonopah Railroad. In 1905 the Tonopah Railroad merged with the Goldfield Railroad to form the Tonopah and Goldfield Railroad and the depot had been enlarged to a full two story structure by 1910. The building was used by the railroad until it ceased operation in 1947. The building was vacant at the time of fire. Philip Metscher photo." There is a date stamp: mid-year 1984.

Ribbon cutting to Hoover Dam Snackateria by Bureau of Reclamation, Boulder City, Nevada. People in the photograph are unidentified. The man cutting the ribbon is blind. Inscription with photo reads: "Cutting the ribbon at Boulder Dam of the opening of the Blind Snack. The plaque over the Fountain has the names of the members who worked for several years to untangle the red tape of hte government to give a blind family a self-supporting job." Transcribed Notes: Transcribed from handwritten inscription on back of photo by Elizabeth Harrington: "Las Vegas Creek, formed by the overflow from one well that supplied the town of Las Vegas with its complete water supply for many years. This picture taken in 1925 near the head of the creek. Las Vegas Creek furnished a welcome playground for many youths, especially in the hot weather."

Ted Logan, Grandma Rogers (grandmother to Irene “Rene” Rogers Berg Zaval), Mrs. Logan, Aunt Emma Rogers (in front), Rene (as a child), and Ted Logan (identified from left to right). The Logans lived on the Berg Ranch for many years and were friends of Rene’s parents.
