Abstract

The UNLV Libraries Collection of Kiwanis Club of Las Vegas Audiovisual Material consists of three 16mm reels of moving images that depict Las Vegas, Nevada from approximately 1925 to 1927. The first reel depicts members of the Kiwanis Club of Las Vegas, which was formed in 1925. The remaining footage depicts views of the First Methodist Episcopal Church, Bank of Southern Nevada, First State Bank, the San Pedro, the Los Angeles, & Salt Lake Depot and Freight House, and various shops on Fremont Street including Oakes Studio, T. M. Carroll Real Estate, J. C. Penney, Las Vegas Garage, and the Las Vegas Age print shop. The footage also shows various local families and desert landscapes. This collection has been fully digitized.

Abstract

The Tony Wuehle Collection documents the activities of freelance writer, college president, and poker expert Edwin "Tony" Wuehle of Michigan and Las Vegas, Nevada, between the years of 1950 to 2007. The collection consists of copies of Wuehle's regular columns, newsletters, and special articles as they were published in various journals and newspapers, especially those related to poker, the International Home and Private Poker Player's Association (IH3PA), education administration, and religious concerns.

Graves, Ralph, 1900-1977

Ralph Graves was a film actor, director, and screenwriter known for his work in silent films. Born on January 23, 1900 in Cleveland, Ohio, Graves is credited for approximately ninety films between the 1910s and 1940s, including the first film produced by Howard Hughes, Swell Hogan (1926). He retired in 1949, the same year of his last film, Joe Palooka and the Counterpunch. Graves died on January 10, 1977 in Santa Barbara, California.
