Oral history interview with Randy Garcia conducted by Claytee D. White on March 28, 2025 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. In this interview, Garcia recalls his early life growing up in downtown Las Vegas, playing various sports with his friends and father. He recalls being the president of Bishop Gorman's pep band in high school, and collecting vinyl records and watching The Beatles perform when he was only ten years old. He attended UNLV then went on to Santa Clara Law School, ultimately dropping out and deciding to instead become a stockbroker. Leaving his employer behind, he decided to open his own firm, The Investment Council Company. Over twenty years later and he still runs his successful financial planning business, with a focus on honesty to customers. Joining the UNLV Foundation's board of trustees in 2011, he has been determined to help UNLV students gain access to more scholarships. He plans to continue the hard work of securing funding for future students, and is grateful that he has done so much with the opportunities he has been given.
