Oral history interview with Loreta Monson conducted by Jon J. Howard on March 01, 1979 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. In this interview, Monson discusses moving to Las Vegas, Nevada from Utah for her husband's job. Monson also discusses the growth of Las Vegas over the years. General Land Office Survey Books
The General Land Office Survey Books (approximately 1881-1919) consist of nine bound volumes of survey maps originally conducted in 1881 by the General Land Office (which later became the U.S. Bureau of Land Management). The primary information shown on the maps is section, township, and range numbers, as well as designation and dimenstions of government lots. The books in this collection cover townships 13 through 32, which includes the majority of Clark County. The secondary information shown on the maps is topographical and geographical in nature, showing mountains, washes, rivers, major wagon roads, and types of vegetation. The hachure lines along section lines indicate mountains and in all probability those lines were not actually walked. Patent application lists are attached to some maps, which also have property owner's name and address. If the patent was granted, the patent number is also shown. If the patent application nwas withdrawn or forfeited, that notation was also noted.

The John C. Olsen Photograph Collection (approximately 1950 to 1969) consists of black-and-white photographic prints, negatives, and one scrapbook. Images depict scenes from the annual Helldorado Celebration in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Shriners’ Parade in downtown Las Vegas, various hotels along the Las Vegas Strip, the Last Frontier Village at the Last Frontier Hotel, Las Vegas, natural landscapes at Mount Charleston and Rhyolite, Nevada, Hoover Dam and Lake Mead, Twin Lakes, and petroglyphs in Valley of Fire Nevada State Park.

Cassidy, Butch, 1866-
Robert Leroy Parker (1866-1908), also known as Butch Cassidy, was an American train and bank robber during the late 1800s. He was notorious for being the leader of the “Wild Bunch”, a gang of criminal outlaws in the Old West. Parker’s life and death has been a main element in many “Wild West” films and literature to this day.

Marge Jacques Papers
The Marge Jacques Papers (1960-1990) comprise the personal papers of Marge Jacques, a prominent member of the Las Vegas, Nevada gay and lesbian community, and owner of the gay bar, Le Cafe. The papers contain correspondence, licensing records, financial statements, and artifacts from clubs that Jacques owned or managed. Also included are photographs, videotapes, audiotapes, newspaper clippings, and Gipsy Nightclub promotional material.
