Oral history interview with Jahaira Farias conducted by Monserrath Hernández on April 12, 2019 for the Latinx Voices of Southern Nevada Oral History Project. In this interview, Farias discusses her family’s background in Mexico and growing up in Las Vegas, Nevada. She recalls attending Western High School, joining their ROTC program, and commanding the armed drill team. Farias talks about her decision to enlist to the United States Marine Corps and describes the type of work she did while serving. She describes her deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, post-traumatic stress disorder within in the Marine Corps, and her experiences as a woman in the military. Later, Farias discusses being president of the Women Marines Association (WMA) and the organization's involvement in Las Vegas high schools. Lastly, Farias talks about the term Latinx and her evolving feelings around identity.

Oral history interviews with Frieda 'Faye' Steinberg conducted by Barbara Tabach on September 10, 2014, November 10, 2014, and August 15, 2017 for the Southern Nevada Jewish Heritage Project. In these interviews, Steinberg discusses her upbringing in New York City, New York and moving to San Antonio, Texas because of her father’s health. She recalls attending the University of Texas and becoming an elementary school teacher. Steinberg describes moving to Las Vegas, Nevada with her husband in 1958, her husband’s career in radiology, and joining Temple Beth Sholom. Later, Steinberg discusses the increase of the Jewish population in Las Vegas, how she celebrates the Sabbath, and the importance of Jewish education. Lastly, Steinberg talks about being honored by Jewish Nevada for her work in Women’s Philanthropy.

Oral history interview with Maria Moore conducted by Elsa Lopez on August 02, 2019 for the Latinx Voices of Southern Nevada Oral History Project. In this interview, Moore discusses her early life in Belize. She describes the the diversity of its citizens, being able to speak Belizean Creole, and compares differences between northern and southern Belize. Moore talks about the political and economic instability of Belize, immigrating to the United States in 1979, and attending California State University, Fullerton. Later, Moore discusses her interests in senior issues, obtaining an internship in hospice care, and her experiences volunteering at a nursing home. She talks about moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1994, and her employment with Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada and the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). Lastly, Moore describes the priorities for AARP and current events surrounding healthcare.

Oral history interview with Patricia and Raymond Potter conducted by Shirley Emerson on June 05, 2014 for the West Charleston Neighborhoods: an Oral History Project of Ward 1. In this interview, Patricia and Raymond discuss their personal upbringings and lives prior to meeting each other. Raymond talks about his father’s employment with the Union Pacific Railroad and purchasing properties on South Fifth Street. He then recalls his father's business, Fifth Street Liquor Store. Patricia describes moving to Las Vegas in 1957 and graduating from Las Vegas High School in 1961. They talk about the impact that Howard Hughes had on the development of Las Vegas, nuclear testing at the Nevada Test Site, and the Helldorado parades. Lastly, Patricia and Raymond discuss the population increase in Las Vegas, the closing of Fremont Street for renovation, and changes in the West Charleston area.

Oral history interview with Sylvia Alvarado conducted by Rodrigo Vazquez and Monserrath Hernández on April 12, 2019 for the Latinx Voices of Southern Nevada Oral History Project. In this interview, Alvarado discusses her early life in Las Vegas, Nevada. She talks about attending College of Southern Nevada (CSN) and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), studying journalism and media, and her internship with Lotus Broadcasting. Alvarado describes hosting a one-hour show on the La Buena radio station, and her experience speaking on a Spanish-language radio station. Later, Alvarado explains the history of Spanish-language radio stations in Las Vegas, the types of music she plays, and being a co-host on the Dave and Mahoney Morning Show for a CBS radio affiliate in Las Vegas. Lastly, Alvarado discusses being a role model for Latinas in media, Latino representation in radio, and the future of radio.

Oral history interview with Judy and Harry Campbell conducted by Stefani Evans and Claytee D. White on October 04, 2016 for the Building Las Vegas Oral History Project. In this interview, Judy discusses her early life in St. John’s, Newfoundland and her move to Ottawa, Canada. Harry discusses his upbringing in Ogden, Utah and his initial interests in architecture. He recalls moving to Las Vegas, Nevada to work for architect Julius Gabriel, construction planning for the Four Queens, and planning for the home of Jerry Mack. Later, Judy talks about her move to Boulder City, Nevada in 1974, her involvement in interior design, and her initial interests in residential real estate. Later, Harry recalls his work with the construction planning of federal court rooms, working with Las Vegas architects, and the process of becoming a licensed architect. Lastly, Judy and Harry talk about the development of Lake Las Vegas.

Oral history interview with Clinton Wright and Aaron Mayes conducted by Barbara Tabach on February 21, 2017 for the African Americans in Las Vegas: a Collaborative Oral History Project. In this interview, Wright discusses being a photographer of the Westside community in Las Vegas, Nevada. He recalls creating his first photographic prints, being a freelance photographer, and experimenting with photography techniques. Wright talks about his employment with the Las Vegas Voice newspaper, and the types of jobs he was assigned while working there. Later, Mayes discusses curating Wright’s photograph collection, and displaying it at the Westside School. Mayes describes the approach he took when curating the photograph collection and the historical significance of the materials. Lastly, Wright explains the importance of documenting African American life in the Westside community.
