Player's Network John Marovic gives brief report on the MGM renovation to replace the bronze lion; Jimmy Newman retiring; Prima Donna renamed and renovated; and Paris megaresort construction completed. Then the "Neon Buzz" segment witih hosts Jonathan Goldstein and Alesia Prentiss begins. The segment discusses Treasure Island's pirate-themed Buccaneer Bay show. The reporter interviews Scott Delguiduce and Craig Dunbar who perform in the show. The next segment reports on local entertainment, including New York New York's "Madhattan" and Bellagio's "Mystere", Hilton's "Starlight Express", and other upcoming events in the Riviera Hotel. The "Inside the Book" segments interviews Joe Lupe (Stardust) and Roxy Roxborough (Oddsmaker) and gives an overview of sportsbetting featuring the Stardust Race and Sportsbook. The "Tournaments Today" segment explains local poker tournaments and how you can eventually play in the World Series of Poker. Sparer, Jon

Jon Sparer is an architect in Las Vegas, Nevada who has worked on numerous hotels and casinos. He moved to Las Vegas in July 1981 and worked for the architecture firm Rissman and Rissman before joining Marnell Corrao. After briefly retiring in 1999, Sparer opened his own architecture firm and was contacted by Congregation Ner Tamid (of which he was a casual member) to design their new temple in Green Valley. Jon was married to another successful architect, John Klai. Both were very instrumental in the opening of The Center.

Gragson, Oran K. (Oran Kenneth), 1911-2002

Politician Oran Kenneth Gragson was the longest serving mayor of Las Vegas, Nevada, a position he held from 1959 to 1975. He was born February 14, 1911, near Tucamari, New Mexico. In 1919, his family moved to Arkansas, then later to Texas. Gragson came to the Las Vegas area in 1932, and worked at the Hoover Dam for a short time before finding employment in highway construction. He managed the Boulder Inn Casino and Dance Hall for a brief time, and later opened the North Main Furniture Store, followed by the Charleston Appliance Center.
