Description
From the Dennis McBride Photograph Collection (PH-00263) -- LGBTQ+ events and organizations in Las Vegas, Nevada -- Digital images file. Notes from the donor, Dennis McBride: Krave nightclub opened on November 13, 2004 inside the Desert Passage shopping area of the Aladdin Hotel and Casino, and remained at this location after Desert Passage became the Miracle Mile Shops. In July 2012 Krave announced its move from the Miracle Mile Shops to the empty motion picture theater in the Neonopolis shopping mall downtown on Fremont Street and a name change to Krave Massive. The nightclub held its grand opening in Neonopolis on June 16, 2013, only to close within two months. Krave moved a third time into the former Club Utopia at 3765 Las Vegas Boulevard South. Krave opened here on November 1, 2013, then closed permanently on July 27, 2014.

Abstract

The Jeff Gale Photographs (approximately 1992-2001) primarily contain aerial images of the Las Vegas Strip taken from the Stratosphere Tower and other locations around the city that were shot by Las Vegas, Nevada photographer Jeff Gale. Materials include images of the Sam's Town 300 NASCAR race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway as well as images of the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead Recreation Area. The collection also includes what may be personal family photographs taken around various locations around southern Nevada and the southwest region.

Abstract

Oral history interview with Vicki Walker conducted by Claytee D. White on December 8, 2021 for the African Americans in Las Vegas: A Collaborative Oral History Project. In this interview, Walker describes her early life, born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, specifically the Windsor Park neighborhood. After high school, she worked as a guest room attendant, and then later as a PBX operator at the Luxor. At the time of the interview, she worked at Caesars Palace as a food and beverage cashier. A large part of the interview is dedicated to Walker's experience investigating problems with other homes in the Windsor Park neighborhood, fighting insurance companies and the city to receive compensation for the faulty home construction. Oral history interivew with Victor Juarez Rivera conducted by Barbara Tabach on January 29, 2021 for the Latinx Voices of Southern Nevada Oral History Project.

Victor recounts his personal history growing up in Mexico City before moving to Las Vegas in 1988. He discusses his family life and occupation as a cook at the Circus Circus and shop steward for the Culinary Workers Union Local 226.
