Joan Kerschner hails from the Midwest, having grown up in Abe Lincoln county, Indiana. As a young girl, she went into the Carnegie Library to rest and to view photographs on the stereograph while in town shopping with her family. She attended college across the river at Kentucky Wesleyan College and then earned a master’s in library science at Indiana University.

Fred Pinjuv was born in 1935 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He graduated from Rancho High School in 1953 and attended college at the University of Oregon. Pinjuv was drafted by the Boston Red Sox right out of college, but decided to accept a draft to the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.
