Gordon Smith was born November 25, 1943 in Tropic, Utah. His family moved to Hawthorne, Nevada, in 1947. In 1955 he and his family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. Smith went to Rancho High School. After high school, he went to barbering college and then was drafted and was a medic in the United States Army taking care of soldiers who had been critically wounded in the Vietnam War. After he got out of the Army, Smith opened a McDonalds and then worked full time as a barber.

Kevin T. Orrock is president of Summerlin and vice president of Master Planned Communities for The Howard Hughes Corporation. He was born in Pioche, Nevada, and spent his early years in the San Francisco Bay area and in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Kevin graduated from a small liberal arts college with a degree in accounting, came to Las Vegas in 1974, and started working in the accounting department at the Desert Inn Hotel and Casino. He later earned his M.B.A. from University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

June F. Whitley was born in San Angelo, Texas and raised in Pittsburg, California. She met Lewis Whitley at the First Baptist Church in Pittsburg. They were married in 1955, and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1958. June found work as a maid for the Sahara Hotel before being hired at the Centel Telephone Company as an operator. In 1978, June became involved in local politics sought a seat on the Board of Regents for Clark County Community College, and eventually became the first woman Chairperson of the board.

Laurie Joe Deal wa born on July 3, 1924 in Hickory, North Carolina. Laurie married Rosa Allen on April 26, 1958 and they had three children: David, Stephen, and James.
Deal obtained a bachelor of science degree in science and math from Lenoir Rhyne College.
Deal is associated with the Nevada Test Site as Director of the Civil Effects Group for the Application Englineering Company (AEC) and as a BioMed member of the Nevada Test Site planning board.
