Lois Goodall was born July 18, 1938 in Odessa, Missouri to a father who was a farmer and a teacher mother. Goodall went to college to become a teacher, and her freshman year met a young sophomore gentleman by the name of Pat Goodall. They married and while Goodall attended graduate school at the University of Missouri, she taught fifth grade.

Sweet, Kevin

Kevin Sweet was born in Wellsville, New York. He always knew he wanted to run casinos. When he graduated from college in December 2006, he came to Las Vegas and entered the MGM Management Associate Program. Kevin went to work at Treasure Island as a slot operations analyst. He worked in the same position at Bellagio, then as director of slot operations at Aria. Kevin wanted international experience, so he became the executive director of global slot operations for Las Vegas Sands Corporation.

Torjman, David

David Torjman was born March 4, 1939 and raised in Fez, Morocco and was educated in trades at the ORT Vocational School. He then studied at Sunderland Talmudical College in England before immigrating to the United States. In 1964, he was recruited to teach at Temple Beth Sholom. Soon after, Torjman met Iris Schwartz who had moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to live with her aunt. Less than two years later, they had a New York wedding and then a local wedding thrown by the Sisterhood at Temple Beth Sholom. Torjman was a Hebrew school teacher until 1975.

Knowles, Darville, 1948-

Dr. Darville Knowles was born September 11, 1948 in Miami, Florida. His mother and father were schoolteachers in Dade County, Florida. After their divorce in 1962, Knowles’ mother relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada with her two sons and took a teaching position there. Knowles graduated from college and attended Howard University and Stanford University Medical School and completed his internship at the Jewish Hospital of St. Louis, Missouri. Dan Wilkes, a family friend and pathologist in Las Vegas, convinced Knowles to look at Las Vegas for job opportunities.

Starkweather, Wendy M., 1949-

Wendy Starkweather was born July 1, 1949 and was raised in rural Ogdensburg, New York. She attended Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York and became a teacher and librarian in New Hampshire. She married her husband, Peter, on August 26, 1972 in Schenectady, New York and the couple moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1978.

Aquilina, Nick C., 1937-

Nick C. Aquilina was born June 10, 1937 in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Aquilina obtained a bachelor of arts degree in scoiology from King's College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania (1958). Aquilina was part of the United States Army from 1960 to 1962.

Aquilina began working at the Nevada Test Site in 1962; joined AEC from January 1967 to 1976; Idaho National Engineering Lab (INEL) from 1976 to 1987; Manager of the Nevada Operations Office from 1987 to 1994, when he then retired.

Titus, A. Costandina, 1950-

Alice Costandina “Dina” Titus was born in 1950 to Betty and Joe Titus in Georgia. She received her undergraduate education at the College of William and Mary, her Master’s from the University of Georgia, and her doctorate from Florida State University. She taught political science at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, researching nuclear power and atomic culture. She married Tom Wright, a history professor at UNLV, in 1979. Voters elected her to first public office in 1988, the Nevada State Senate.

After a 13-year courtship spanning the Pacific Ocean, Arlene and Mach Manuel began married life in San Diego, where their daughter was born. The couple is from two worlds. Arlene was raised in the Philippines, where her parents sacrificed to send her to the best Catholic school in Manila and to college for two separate degrees. In contrast, Mach's San Diego upbringing was that of a working-class "American" child who connected with his Filipino heritage on his first visit to the Philippines as an adult.
