Oral history interview with Stavan Corbett conducted by Nathalie Martinez on November 5, 2018 for the Latinx Voices of Southern Nevada Oral History Project. Barbara Tabach and Rodrigo Vazquez also participate in the questioning. Stavan Corbett is a member of the Latino community who has served as an educator and politician in Las Vegas. Growing up in Las Vegas, Stavan was exposed to various environments that all helped him shape his Latino identity. Stavan was able to appreciate the Catholic and Jewish cultures as well. During the 1970s and '80s his experiences with first and second generation Latinos played a large role in his identity formation, especially as a student. He was the first in his family to graduate from high school and college. Stavan worked in the hotel industry and moved on to work with troubled youth and eventually become a member of the Nevada State Board and the Clark County School Board. His continued work with the Latin Chamber of Commerce has also allowed him to be involved with the Latino Youth Leadership Conference. Subjects discussed include: Identity Struggle, Interracial Relationships, Working in the Hotel Industry, Clark County School District, and Cultural Assimilation.

This finding aid contains the thematic slides, contact sheets, and audiovisual materials taken and used by UNLV Creative Services for publicity and promotional purposes from approximately 1959 to 2009. The majority of the materials consist of images from various academic departments, athletics, buildings and historical views of campus, as well as faculty and student life. Also included in the collection are an assortment of print materials, such as theater and music programs, as well as audio cassettes and film reels from anniversary events around campus.

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry Records (1970, 2004-2015) contain department newsletters, UNLV publications, and news articles about the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry as well as the College of Sciences. The collection includes flyers and information about the Western Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society when it was hosted in Las Vegas, Nevada. The collection also includes a program for the Chemistry building's cornerstone ceremony in 1970 and a memorial program for former faculty member, Stephen Carper.

Local news segment report on showgirls not wanting to be associated with the upcoming movie Showgirls. Reporter interviews a number of Las Vegas showgirls who graduated college, are currently studying law or business., and teach dance during the day. One showgirl explains the difference between exotic dancing and dancing in shows, and many are concerned that the upcoming "Showgirls" movie will cause misconceptions about their work.
