Dr. Dave Emerson oral history interview
Oral history interview with Dr. David Emerson conducted by Claytee D. White on December 21, 2005 for the UNLV @ 50 Oral History Project. In this interview Emerson discusses moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1981 and teaching chemistry classes at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He talks about building up the engineering department at UNLV through distance education for students who needed credits in math, computer skills, or electrical engineering. He then talks about promoting the idea of a strong engineering school at UNLV, and then working to gain accreditation for civil, mechanical, electrical, and other areas of engineering.

Melvin Sanders talks about growing up on the Westside as the son of a pastor/auto detailing business owner. He recalls tensions and the joy of his upbringing during the 1960s. He tells a story about working for State Gaming Board at age 16, going to college on a football scholarship, and an encounter with Sonny Liston. Sanders and his brothers inherited his father's auto detailing business.

Musa Pam oral history interview, 2024 September 24
Oral history interview with Musa Pam conducted by Claytee D. White and Stefani Evans on September 24, 2024 for the UNLV Remembers: an Oral History of the 6 December 2023 Shootings project. In this interview, Pam, the Associate Vice President of Facilities Management, describes his educational background and personal history before talking about his memories from December 6, 2023. He was with his team in the Campus Services Building, and they gathered together in a conference room while they stayed updated on news and tried to account for his 300-member staff. He talks about his assistant, who delivered ten sets of master keys to BEH, and how law enforcement evacuated their building and sent everyone home. He remained, completed his daily walk in reverse (avoiding Beam Hall), and photographed the deserted campus. The quiet reminded him of March 13, 2020, when Brown University first shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He recalls December 7, with the campus marked by caution tape, more than 500 doors breached by law enforcement, and all the belongings that students and staff had left behind. University Police Assistant Director Miller took him to Beam Hall, where he saw broken glass everywhere, bullet holes and bullets embedded in walls, damaged fire alarms, and blood on the floor. He remembers the biohazard cleanup, and credits his team for their role in the campus-wide recovery and healing when they restored all campus buildings' systems and replaced all damaged doors and alarms before the new semester began January 16, 2024. In this interview, Molasky discusses her parents, Irwin and Susan Molasky, and growing up in Las Vegas as a member of Temple Beth Sholom. She attended Sunday school and Hebrew school, but is not particularly religious as an adult.
Beth Molasky-Cornell is a partner, shareholder, and an active member of the board of directors of the Molasky Group of Companies, which was founded by her father Irwin Molasky. She is a founding partner and a core member of the board of directors of Ocean Pacific Companies, a high-end real estate development firm founded by her husband Ken Cornell in San Diego, California. Molasky-Cornell contributed to numerous Molasky Group building projects, including the Bank of America Plazas, the Winterwood Corporation land development, and the Park Towers luxury condominiums. Molasky was born in Florida; however, her family moved to Las Vegas before her second birthday. She graduated from Valley High School in 1968, and started college at the University of Southern California at the age of seventeen. After spending a couple of years in Rhode Island, where she had her children, she moved back to Las Vegas in 1975. In this interview, Molasky discusses her childhood experiences in Las Vegas, especially as a member of the Jewish community, and reflects upon changes that influenced her children?s upbringing in the city.

Brian Block was born in Chicago on August 10, 1945 to Jerry and Jeanne Block. Block lived in California and Las Vegas, Nevada. Block attended Fullerton Junior College and then the Art Center College of Design and received his two year degree in Architecture. He worked as a contractor.

Withania Neal oral history interview
Oral history interview with Withania Neal conducted by Claytee D. White on August 9, 2006 for the Hurricane Katrina Survivors in Las Vegas Oral History Project. In this interview, Neal discusses her upbringing in Las Vegas, Nevada. She remembers attending a sixth grade center, and going to Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Neal talks about her experience with hurricane season in Louisiana, evacuating, and the development of hurricane Katrina. She describes the broken levees, the flooding of New Orleans, and the chaos that followed. Lastly, Neal recalls the weeks after the hurricane, damaged homes, and the process of rebuilding the community.

An Interview with Judith Lee Johnson Jones
Oral history interview with Judith Lee Johnson Jones conducted by Claytee D. White on February 22, 2007 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. Johnson Jones discusses winning a contest that allowed her to be a showgirl at the Sands Hotel and Casino when she was seventeen, receiving a college degree in Houston, Texas, and performing in the Elvis movie “Viva Las Vegas.” She also talks about her twenty-nine-year career in education.

Dr. Alvaro Vergara-Mery oral history interview
Oral history interview with Dr. Alvaro Vergara-Mery conducted by Barbara Tabach on October 28, 2020 for the Latinx Voices of Southern Nevada Oral History Project. Alvaro discusses his personal history and his upbringing in both Chile and the United Kingdom before immigrating to the United States; due to political unrest in Chile, he moved to the U.K. where his mother was born before attending university in the United States. Alvaro talks about his work as a medical interpreter for University Medical Center (UMC) as well as his college teaching experience at University of Nevada Las Vegas and California State Berkley.
