Robert Aalberts grew up in a small town called Bemidji, Minnesota. He enjoyed all kinds of outdoors sports in winter and summer. He attended school there from kindergarten through his bachelor's degree. Robert obtained his master's at the University of Missouri, and then taught geography at the University of New Orleans. After 4 years there, he decided to attend law school at Loyola University, and received his law degree in 1982. His first job out of law school was as a corporate lawyer for Gulf Oil, but after two years he decided to return to teaching. He taught at Louisiana State University in Shreveport tor seven years. While there, he published several textbooks, wrote articles for business journals, and also wrote for law reviews. Mr. Aalberts was encouraged to come to UNLV by a friend who worked here, and he got the chance to do just that in 1991. When he first arrived, there was no law school, and he taught legal environment of business, real estate law I and II, and became editor in chief of the Real Estate Law Journal in 1992. Today Robert continues to teach, write, edit, do research in the new law library, and serve on various committees. He has served in the past on promotion and tenure committees, and currently serves on a committee which seeks to improve teaching on campus. He also enjoys various sports events on campus and informal get- togethers with colleagues.

Abstract

Oral history interview with Melissa and Thomas Puckett conducted by Claytee D. White on July 14, 2014 for the West Charleston Neighborhoods: an Oral History Project of Ward 1. In this interview, Melissa and Thomas discuss their early life in Las Vegas, Nevada. They talk about living in the Scotch 80s neighborhood, the community, and the future of the West Charleston area. Lastly, Melissa and Thomas discuss issues in public education and the preservation of homes in their neighborhood.

Bunker, Ferren W. (Ferren Wittwer), 1918-2014

Ferren W. Bunker was born June 16, 1918 in Bunkerville, Nevada. He attended the University of Nevada, Reno and graduated in 1940. Afterwards, he moved around the state before moving to Las Vegas, Nevada. His career ranged from being an agricultural teacher to a Clark County Cooperative Extension Agent. Bunker passed away September 29, 2014.

Chandler, Allin O.

Allin Chandler moved with his mother from Texarkana, Texas, to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1958 to join his father, who was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base. Chandler was a member of Rancho High School's first graduating class of 1962. He was a teacher, a principal, and Executive Director for the Clark County Association of School Administrators.

Ross, Irmalee Anne (1938 December 23-)

Irmalee Anne Gray Ross was born December 23, 1938 to Irma Niles Gray and R. Guild Gray and was raised in Reno, Nevada. She married her husband, R. Ian Ross, on September 02, 1961. Gray Ross worked as a teacher at Las Vegas Day School and retired after 13 years.
