On March 18, 1978, Mitch Cox interviewed Lois Cox (born 1938 in Ely, Nevada) about her experiences growing up in and living in Nevada. Cox first talks about her family background and then discusses her educational and employment backgrounds. She then describes her work for the Clark County School District, the changes in schools over time, and her opinions on how student activities have changed. The topics then shift to Cox’s opinions on some of Nevada’s politicians, her Basque background, and the changes in Las Vegas over time, particularly those related to gambling.

On March 3, 1979, William Hawley interviewed Oliver Crickman (born 1933 in Apex, North Carolina) about his experiences from living in Nevada and working in restaurants. Crickman first describes his background and his first occupations prior to starting as a cook in Las Vegas restaurants. He then explains how he gradually moved from the position of cook’s helper to sous chef and his then-current position of executive chef at the Royal Inn. Crickman goes into detail about the operation of those restaurants and other Las Vegas Strip and Downtown Las Vegas properties, and he describes the demographics of cooks as well as how the hospitality industry has changed over time. The latter part of the interview involves a discussion of Crickman’s various residences in Las Vegas over time, the extent of crime, the first places to shop, and a brief discussion on mobile homes.

On October 25, 1979, collector Carol A. Semendoff interviewed bartender, Stanley Goldstein (born on December 5th, 1933) in his place of residence. This interview covers Mr. Goldstein’s personal historical profile as a Las Vegas, Nevada resident. Also during this interview, Mr. Goldstein discusses the Strip, gambling, prostitution, and the history of the major casinos.

On February 28, 1979, Jane Finfrock interviewed Mary Habbart (born 1897 in Boothwyn, Pennsylvania) about her life in Southern Nevada. Habbart first talks about her move to Las Vegas in 1920 and her husband’s subsequent employment. She also talks about the first casinos, the development of the university campus, visits of U.S. presidents, and the Mormon Fort. She also discusses the Helldorado Parade, flash floods, snowing in Las Vegas, her role in developing Sunset Park, her family, and her education.

On March 8, 1975, John Neal interviews Ruth Hazard (birthdate unknown, 67 years old) in her home about her memory of how Southern Nevada has changed economically. Hazard goes in-depth about her knowledge of municipal politics and her husband’s friendships with a number of Nevadan politicians. Hazard also briefly talks about her fascination with the above-ground atomic tests, speakeasies during Prohibition, and local anxieties about Las Vegas “losing its identity.”

On February 28, 1979, collector Monte Leavitt interviewed Gene Leavitt (born October 6th, 1923 in Mesquite, Nevada) at his home in North Las Vegas, Nevada. In this interview, Mr. Leavitt talks about his career as a truck and bus driver. He also talks about the life in Southern Nevada, the soldiers stationed here, and gambling.

On March 19, 1978, collector Bill Young interviewed Rena Lees (born October 15th, 1934 in Las Vegas, Nevada) at her home in Las Vegas, Nevada. In this interview, Rena Lees talks about growing up in Las Vegas and the activities she was involved in as a teenager. She also discusses her family and her career working at Sunrise Hospital.
