Hirsch, Charles J., 1912-2002

Accountant Charles J. Hirsch was born in New York City, New York on November 8, 1912. After graduating from New York's Pace University in 1938, with a degree in Accounting and Business Administration, he traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he was employed by the Apache Hotel on Fremont Street. His stay in Las Vegas was interrupted once by a five-year tour of duty with the Air Force Contract Audit Division, where he attained the rank of captain before his release in 1946.

Fox, Jerry, 1937-

Jerry Fox (1937- ) is a Las Vegas, Nevada businessman who owned Foxy Dog restaurant, several gift shops, Lasting Memories camera company, and Vegas Threadz wholesale embroidery company. He was born December 29, 1937, to Abe and Ellena Fox in Los Angeles, California. The Fox family moved to Las Vegas in February 1955, where Abe opened Foxy’s Delicatessen, the city’s first Jewish deli. After graduating from Las Vegas High School in 1956, Jerry Fox worked at Foxy's Deli for about ten years.

On March 2, 1980, collector David Mowrey interviewed Barbara Millington (born July 3rd, 1937 in Oak Creek, Colorado) at her home in Las Vegas, Nevada. In this interview, Mrs. Millington discusses moving to Las Vegas, Nevada with her family and working various jobs including at Vegas Village and becoming a bookkeeper at a construction firm. She also speaks about the changes she has seen in Las Vegas, such as how casinos were when she first came here compared to how they are now. She ends the interview talking about the need for Las Vegas to find industry outside of gaming. She discusses the need for young people to come back after going away to college to improve the city.
