Oral history interview with Joshua Cohen, Eli M. Delgado Jr., and Evan Ranes conducted by Stefani Evans and Claytee D. White on June 15, 2024 for Game On! The Oral History of Las Vegas Sports project. In this interview, the three discuss how the local history of fencing and fencing clubs is woven into the national and international history of the sport. Cohen, at least a generation younger than Delgado and Ranes, arrived in Las Vegas in 2006 just before his senior year at Chaparral High School. His father was a "saberist" fencer, and Joshua took up foil fencing in middle school and early high school. He joined Battle Born Fencing Club as a post-lockdown activity in 2021. Eli M. Delgado Jr. is the second generation of his family to pursue an Air Force career. He began fencing at age 30 when he was stationed in Turkey and has fenced ever since. Evan Ranes took up fencing in high school under an excellent Olympic coach. A professional drummer, he and his wife moved to Las Vegas in 1985, where he made a living until the 1989 musicians strike, whereupon he went to UNLV to earn his MBA in Finance. He describes other fencers who came to Las Vegas to open clubs, and credits Sean and Cynthia Ameli for growing the youth fencing program in Southern Nevada. The three then go to the back wall of the club, decorated in awards, to discuss the local youth who fence and matriculate into elite universities. Cave Nightclub Records
The Cave Nightclub Records (1992-1994) are comprised of materials generated during the planning and construction of the Cave Nightclub in Las Vegas, Nevada. It opened in 1992 as a straight nightclub. It changed ownership in 1993, and reopened on September 3, 1993 as a gay nightclub and closed early in 1995. The collection contains policy documents, building plans, and promotional and publicity materials, as well as artifacts, including waiter uniforms from the nightclub.

Stavan Corbett oral history interview: transcript
Oral history interview with Stavan Corbett conducted by Nathalie Martinez on November 5, 2018 for the Latinx Voices of Southern Nevada Oral History Project. Barbara Tabach and Rodrigo Vazquez also participate in the questioning. Stavan Corbett is a member of the Latino community who has served as an educator and politician in Las Vegas. Growing up in Las Vegas, Stavan was exposed to various environments that all helped him shape his Latino identity. Stavan was able to appreciate the Catholic and Jewish cultures as well. During the 1970s and '80s his experiences with first and second generation Latinos played a large role in his identity formation, especially as a student. He was the first in his family to graduate from high school and college. Stavan worked in the hotel industry and moved on to work with troubled youth and eventually become a member of the Nevada State Board and the Clark County School Board. His continued work with the Latin Chamber of Commerce has also allowed him to be involved with the Latino Youth Leadership Conference. Subjects discussed include: Identity Struggle, Interracial Relationships, Working in the Hotel Industry, Clark County School District, and Cultural Assimilation.

The collection primarily focuses on Las Vegas, Nevada, but also includes projects throughout Nevada and other states including Utah, Arizona, California, Mississippi, and Colorado.
